A free tool that reads handwriting back to you.
Paste any page and watch it turn into text, including messy, handwritten Indic script, where generic OCR gives up. We don’t sell this as a product; it’s a free utility that shows what our handwriting AI can do, and a friendly front door to the pen and analyser.
Why we built it
A useful tool, not a product we sell.
Plenty of apps read printed text; few handle handwritten Indic script, because vattus, guninthas and joined modifiers make it genuinely hard and labelled data is scarce. That’s exactly what our pen and dataset are good at, so we put a small reader online for anyone to use, free. It earns its keep two ways: it’s genuinely helpful, and it brings people who need handwriting tech to Vahini. We are not selling an OCR model; the real products are the pen, the analyser and the dataset.
What it's good for
Free to use, handy where it counts.
Reads what others can’t
Tuned for handwritten Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Kannada, the scripts Western OCR handles worst.
No sign-up, no charge
Paste a page and read it back. It’s a utility, not a paywall, nothing to buy here.
Shows the real tech
The same handwriting AI behind the analyser, a taste of what the pen and dataset can do.
Common use cases
When it helps
- Quick digitising, turn a photographed handwritten page into text you can copy.
- Indic-script pages read back where mainstream tools struggle.
- Curiosity, see how well our handwriting AI does on your own writing.
- A way in, then meet the pen and the 20-factor analyser behind it.
One example
From a photo to copyable text
A student photographs a page of handwritten Telugu notes and pastes it into the tool.
It reads the page back as text, side by side, free, in seconds. No account, nothing to buy. If they want more, the pen and analyser are one click away.
